This a poem I wrote for my Bapou*, who passed away recently.
My memories of you are filled with visions of me sitting on your lap,
You softly singing to me
Never quite remembering all the words .
Then one broken hip and your life is never the same.
Never again did I sit on your lap
It was almost to painful to watch you slowly get better,
And then suddenly get worse
Because I knew it was only a matter of time before you never got better.
Then the dreaded phone one morning before school
Suddenly everyone is saying how sorry they are.
Then he is buried
My family crys
But not me,
Because I know that you are in a better place,
Singing to me again,
Finaly remembering all of the words.
I love you Bapou!!!
*Bapou is grandpa in Greek
